It's Official - Women Have Had it with Valentines Day

Guys can ditch the roses, bury the cookery books and forget the romantic weekend in a tent, CitySocialising reveals the moment that every guy has been waiting for, research shows that women don't like Valentines Day either!

Research revealed today shows that over half of women, an amazing 55%, loathe Valentines Day. Social networking and events company CitySocialising commissioned the research to find out peoples modern day attitude to the most romantic day in the calendar and were amazed at some of the results that came out.

For the first time ever it showed that more guys value Valentines Day than girls with 25% saying that they love the day and the events that it brings compared to just 10% of women who said the same.

The researchers also presented participants with a list of celebrities that people could choose to either go on a date or just be friends with. Chris Moyles was narrowly beaten into 3rd place by Johnny Vaughan with 29% whilst Dermot O Leary topped the poll with 36% of the votes for the girls when it came to going on a date.

Moyles was the clear leader on the friend category with 38%, beating radio rival Johnny Vaughan into 3rd place with 24% after Dermot came in second spot.

On the girls front Tess Daly with 60% of votes was the most popular date for guys but bizarrely the least popular female that they would want to be friends with. Top choice for the 'person people would most like to be friends with' went to the universally loved Davina McCall with 68% of votes.

Bad news for Russell Brand who came in as last choice in both the Valentine's date and the friend's poll.

Speaking about the findings, Managing Director of CitySocialising, Sanchita Saha said,

"We have been running this survey for over a month now on the front page of our site and I was staggered when we went through the findings and saw that women are now getting fed up of Valentines Day".

"I have always been a big fan of Chris Moyles so it is good to see that the public has ignored the recent media criticism and holds him close to their heart and I am sure he will have been delighted to have beaten Johnny Vaughan in the poll".

CitySocialising started as an easy way for young, outgoing professionals, new to London, to meet new friends and discover new places to eat, drink and socialise across the Capital but today over 40% of it's members are seasoned Londoners seeking to reignite their social lives and meet new people in a relaxed and informal way.

Due to its continued success, CitySocialising has now expanded to cover Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Bath and Brighton.

2.       About CitySocialising

Sanchita Saha founded CitySocialising in January 2005 with the aim to create an easy and relaxed way for newcomers and young professionals in London enjoy the same positive experiences of the city that she has benefited from.

Originally from Reading, Sanchita moved to London at 18 to study at University College London (UCL) developing a strong network of friends over the next 12 years in through the city, meeting them through work, friends and friends of friends.

However, her school friends' and colleagues' less positive experiences of moving to London later on in their mid-20s and 30s, and having less time and opportunities to meet new people and build a social network, inspired her to create a service to connect those who were seeking to meet and socialise with other like minded people and make new friends in the Capital.

Identifying that real friendships were cemented over time and based on sharing happy, positive experiences and fun times together, Sanchita's aim was to re-create her own encounters of going out to London's multitude of bars, restaurants and galleries, socialising and having fun with friends for others.

CitySocialising is a social networking and events company which allows young, sociable London professionals to both connect online, and meet and socialise in groups offline, with like minded others who share similar interests or who live or work in the same area of London for example.

It is not a dating service, there are no dating games, gimmicks or connotations and no online 'profile matching'. CitySocialising is simply an easy way to meet and socialise with like minded people in relaxed and informal environments, create new social networks and make the most of London's infinite social offerings - ideal for those who have just moved to the city or those whose social circles/life in the Capital have dissipated or become stale.

CitySocialising's unique and refreshing approach to meeting new people and making new friends and contacts in the Capital is further complemented by the fact they operate across the whole of London making it a great way to discover new areas and social scenes across the city, make new local friends and socialise closer to home area.
